Early 1944: Top P47 and P38 Aces try to match Rickenbackers score of 26. The KI 61 Tonys of the 68th Sentai are destroyed. B25 Para-bombers covered by the 475th FG set the scene.

Early 1944 is dominated by the P38 aces in the USAF ace race to equal Rickenbacker's 26 kills. The P51B is just entering service in Europe where P38s are the in the majority, but have problems with the Bf109G. The Jap Ki 61 Tony uses the same German engine, but the 68th Sentai is destroyed trying to use them. Col Neel Kirby wants more P47s in the Pacfic, and seeks the 26 kill goal to promote that. The attack on Holandia by B24 and B25 para-bombers sets the scene. Pick your fighter. (The Marines already have two 26 kill aces Foss and Boyington.)
